Another Trick With Bad Jewelry

I don't know if anyone has heard of this old trick, but here is something to help you with fake jewlery. You know how fake jewelry loves to give us a nice green tint on our skin or give us allergic reactions, well this is a trick to help stop that from happening. Clear nail polish. All you need is a coat of clear nail polish over your jewelry. This prevents the green tinting from leaving the jewelry and any other reactions. The only thing is, you need to keep reapplying a coat as needed, the nail polish will come off eventually.

RAM: Random-Access Memory

Goes with the article: Speed Modification with RAM, Page Filing & Visual Settings

RAM is the short term for Random Access Memory. This is basically the limit of how many processes your computer can handle at once. RAM is measured in mega-bytes. To see your RAM, press ALT + CTRL + DEL all at once, this opens up a process called Task Manager (if not, task manager should be a choice in the series of choices it posts). At the bottom right of this window, there should be an amount. That amount is the total RAM and page file you have on your system. (*Note: If you want to know more about page files, go to the link above.)

Ram Sizes
I hope this better explains why your computer is slow or why processes are so limited.
256MB-This is the smallest amount of RAM computers have anymore. This little bit is good if you just want your computer to turn on and perform very small tasks such as opening a web page or playing a music.
512MB-The next largest amount of RAM computers have. This allows you to have a little more room to do what you want. With this, you can play games on your computer that do not take up much memory. Still, with this amount of space, you can't play music, a game and have web pages open without those processes to start running slowly.
1GB-The most popular size of RAM for obvious reasons. This one allows you to have your background processes such as firewalls and anti-virus or anti-spyware to be running AND allow you to play games via your internet browser or however you wish.
2GB-Next most popular but that much more expensive. This RAM is typically for multimedia-based computers and those who are running many processes at once.
*Note: RAM goes all the way up to 8GB but they are the same as the 2GB definition.

Purchasing RAM
After hearing so much about this RAM, you're probably thinking, well hey! Where can I get some of this? Well, there are a lot of factors that go in with purchasing the correct RAM for your computer. I will write about it in a later article but for now you can research it on your own. Don't purchase until you have all the information you need! Not just any RAM will work with just any computer.

In Conclusion
RAM is the amount of processes your computer can handle at once. If you're looking to speed up your computer, that is an issue relating towards your processor. You still can help the processes you want to complete by closing out others that are not necessary.

Very Helpful Natural Remedy: Green Tea

Green tea.. This stuff helps with so very much!! Green tea is known to help with not only colds and allergies, but it boosts your immune system, your metabolism, help nourish your skin, boost energy levels and so much more! Green tea is packed with anti-oxidants, almost 200 a serving. For those who do not enjoy drinking water, this may be a considerable alternative. The best part about the green tea is that, you only would have to drink one eight-ounce glass to see some effects (but you may have as many as you want, there is no limit). It is recommended to have at least two eight-ounce glasses though, to see very pleasant effects. Another benefit about green tea is, its all natural and inexpensive.

Aloe Vera Face Treatment

So, I just tried a new face treatment made out of aloe vera. As it turns out, it works, but not very well. This treatment does work as a very cheap replacement to buying face wash, but in all honesty, you could buy other face washes for not very much money that work quite a bit better. If you do wish to try this treatment for yourself, the steps go as follow.

Aloe Vera Face Treatment
*Note: Remember to test the aloe on your skin in case you get a reaction!!
1) You cut an aloe "leaf" from the bottom of the plant. Cut it along the middle.
2) Take the two sides, flip the side with the sharp edges to the bottom. Be careful not to hurt yourself!!
3) Cut along the gooey liquid, scraping the goo over with a knife, as you collect it, rub it gently on your face.
4) Allow it to set for a minute to three, but not much longer!
5) Start to work water into the goo, the goo should be stuck to your face at this point.
6) Keep rubbing the goo off gently with water until you think its mostly off.
7) Get a towel and rub off the rest. Don't rub your face too hard!
Your skin should feel a little softer and clean in a few minutes. You will soon see why its not that great, unless you really need a remedy that is soft on your skin.

Those Old Stubborn Buttons

Have you ever had a shirt button that comes off? Most likely. Many people run into this problem everyday. An easy way, that most people know is how to sew the button back on. But have you ever had that stubborn button have its threads come apart? It just never wants to stay on, no matter how much you sew it on. Well, I have found a new way to fix this problem. Just sew the buttons on as normal, remember to add knots at the back! Then, get clear nail polish. Apply small amounts of the nail polish on the back of the button and towards the knots. Let this dry, preferably untouched. Once it finishes, you should have a button that stays on a lot longer than the other ways!

I hope that helped!

Speed Modification with RAM, Page Filing & Visual Settings

Goes with the article: RAM: Random Access Memory

Many people are noticing that their computers may be running slow due to RAM problems. I'm here to help you get the most out of your RAM. RAM actually stands for Random Access Memory. Maximizing this will allow you to run more programs on your computer without crashing or running extremely slow.
*Note: RAM can be benefited with Page Filing, this blog is about maximizing your page file.

How can I do this?
1) Firstly, go to your Start Menu, then Control Panel. From there, you are searching for an icon labeled System. Now find the tab at the upper right called Advanced. The first box is called Performance, click Settings.
2) Now at the upper tabs, there is one called Advanced, click that. At the bottom of this window, there is a bottom labeled Change. This is where your Page Filing controls are located.
3) You may notice one of two things at this point. You either A) have no Page filing system or B) you do. You may also have more than one drive that has a page filing system.
4) Now, let's work with this filing system to maximize your computer's speed. At the bottom, you should see a recommended setting for your page filling system. You may either enter in this value as the Maximum Size (MB), or choose to go a little lower. Following the recommended settings will add more than enough to your page file. My page file recommends that I put 2,974MB. I know for sure that I do not need that much in my page file, so I set mine to 1,500MB maximum and 750MB minimum. Your page file needs may differ from mine, so I would base it off of the recommendation unless you are more a bit more advanced in your computer skills.
5) Select Custom Size, then work with the recommendation, allowing yourself to run between 10%-30% below the recommendation. Also allow there to be about a 300-1,000MB difference between your initial and maximum sizes.
6) Now select Set then OK, then OK, then again OK and your page file has been set and maximized! I hope that helps!

Another Tip
If you are still noticing low speeds on your system, you may also change some of the visual settings on your computer. There are a few visual effects that you do not notice on your computer that is taking up space that could be used by your programs.
1) Stay in the same area as the Page Filing System if you are still there!! If not, see Step One under "How can I do this?".
2) Under Visual Effects, select custom.
3) If you still want your computer to look nice, but have the minor effects off, then uncheck everything except
use visual styles on windows and buttons. Select Apply and see if you like the way it looks. If not, you may check and uncheck whatever boxes you wish, but only select Apply until you are sure that is the style you want.
*Note: You may change the selections later, its not completely permanent.
4) Select Apply, OK, OK, and there you go. Your computer should still appear nice but allow you to open windows faster amongst others.

If all Else Fails
Then you are in need of a new RAM stick. That gets into quite a bit of detail which I will have to put in a later blog. For now, you may search the internet for other options or ways to get this RAM. RAM will cost you quite a bit of pocket change.

I hope that helps with your slow computers! See you next time.

Speed Up Your Computer

There are many different ways that you may help speed up your computer. I will name two ways that are built-in with Windows computers that you may use at any time. They typically help your computer speed up somewhat.

Disk Cleanup
1) Click on the Start Menu, go to All Programs. Searching from the top down, you will see Accessories as one of the top choices. From Accessories, head to System Tools, then Disk Cleanup.
2) Select what drive you wish to be cleaned, typically this is the C: drive.
*Note: It may take several minutes to hours for this scan to finish.
3) Now you may check and uncheck files as needed, but I would just stick with what the computer came set up with. Click OK, and wait for the files to be deleted.
*Note: This may take quite a while to complete as well.

Disk Defrag
1) Click on the Start Menu, go to All Programs. Searching from the top down, you will see Accessories as one of the top choices. From Accessories, head to System Tools, then Disk Defragmenter.
2) You will see a list of all drives on your computer from here. Select which drive you wish to defragment, typically C: drive.
3) From here, select Analyze. After the analysis is complete, your computer will tell you whether it suggests a defragmentation or not. You may continue with one if you think it is necessary.
*Note: Disk defrags can take up to several hours.
You should also complete a defrag at least one every month.

I hope this helps you with your slow computers!

How to Change Your Home Page
